Annual Pensioners Party

Wednesday 21 January saw 82 local pensioners from Ealing, Hanwell, Acton, Northfields and Northolt converge on the Church Hall at St Thomas The Apostle, Boston Road Hanwell.

This was the Rotary Club of Hanwell and Northfields annual Pensioners Party, and this year we had a record number of guests.

On arrival our guests were greeted with tea and biscuits which was followed by a couple of games of bingo; this always proves very popular.

We then gave them a slap up tea which had kindly been sponsored by Barclays and prepared by the wives of some of our members.

Our guests were then entertained by 4 brilliant musicians from the Ealing Youth Orchestra who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. We followed this with a good old singalong lead by our members Rod Prangnell and Richard Halliwell.

As they all prepared to leave they were all given a "goody bag". The ingredients for the goody bags were very generously donated by local companies: -

* Barclays * Bestway Cash & Carry, Edgware Road * Marks and Spencer * Sainsburys, Ealing Broadway * Tesco, Ealing Broadway * Tesco, Hoover Building * Tesco, Osterley * United Biscuits * Waitrose, West Ealing

Not forgetting The Reverend Peter Andrews who gave us free use of the Church Hall.

Within less than 24 hours we are already getting feedback from the guests - "Thank you for the invite, we enjoyed every minute of it and is greatly appreciated. We look forward to possibly seeing you all of the Rotary in 2010".
