Club Handover Night

Tuesday 28th of June was a special evening for a number of reasons, firstly it gave the club the opportunity to reflect on the outstanding achievements of outgoing President Rodney Prangnell's year. This was an especially sinificant year for Rotary as we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Rotary.

The evening also gave incoming President Alan ONeill the opportunity to set out the foundation for the forthcoming year and to introduce the club's new Committee Heads.

Another of the main highlights of the evening was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and efforts of a couple of our outstanding members with the presentation of 2 Paul Harris Awards.

The Paul Harris Award, which is named after Rotarys founder, has four levels, those being Standard, Sapphire, Ruby and Diamond. On the night in question we were privileged to award a Paul Harris to Assistant District Governor Sue Sands, and a Sapphire Paul Harris to Past President David Brakespear.

David and Sue have supported both the club and the local community unselfishly for a number of years, David has been a member of Rotary for over 25 years, whilst Sue has been a member of Rotary for 12 years and prior to that was a very active member of Rotaract for 6 years.
