The Race Night is not something for an organiser of a nervous disposition.
A lot of things have to come together on the night and it is a team effort from club members – getting the DVD’s, getting them to play, organising the betting and the payouts, announcing the races, inviting the guests, organising the meals and the raffle.
I could go on! Fortunately with the help of many unsung heroes the event went off well raising money for WaterAid and Literacy in a Box.
These two charities are part of the Rotary commitment to helping on the international front. I must record our thanks to Barclays who supplied the change and ran the “bank” on the night.
In the end we raised in excess of £1200 which is a great effort and is a reminder that there are a lot of good people out there wanting to help when they can.
Once again a big thanks from me to those who helped and those who came.
