Pitshanger Party in the Park

Sunday the 26th of June 2005 saw members of The Rotary Club of Hanwell & Northfields join dozens of other stallholders in Pitshanger Park, Ealing, to take part in the PCAs Party in the Park.

Alan ONeill and David Strange had the responsibility for organising the clubs participation in the event this year, which they did with great enthusiasm.

It is the second year running that the club has taken part in the annual event and this year we ran two stalls. The Rotary Club of Hanwell & Northfields stalls were a stall where you could win a bicycle by throwing four dice and if the dice landed 4 X 4, you won a bike. We also ran a traditional gaming stall which had shuffleboards and "Play Our Cards Right".

On the Bike stall we were able to display a selection of bicycles that had been loaned to us by Ealing Cycles, this encouraged a lot of people to come to the stand even if they were sceptical about winning the prize. It was with great delight that we were able to present Ravinder Johal with a winners certificate after he had successfully thrown the required 4 x 4 at the first attempt, and although we only had one winner on the day we did have a number of people who came close by throwing 3 x 4.

On the shuffleboard and cards stand participants were as equally enthusiastic about the event as can be seen from the picture, which shows local MP Stephen Pound celebrating his win on the "Play Our Cards Right" game.
